Jeff Tarr is an experienced public company CEO, board director and private equity advisor. Over the last two decades, he has built three publicly traded, tech-enabled information companies into industry leaders. Tarr was CEO of DigitalGlobe, the world leader in satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence, from 2011 until the sale of the company in 2017 to MDA to form Maxar Technologies. Prior to DigitalGlobe, Tarr was President & COO of IHS (now IHS Markit) and Chairman & CEO of the publicly-traded business information company Hoover’s, Inc. (now a division of D&B). He began his career with Bain & Company.
Tarr received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and his MBA from Stanford. He currently serves on board of EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) and as Chairman of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Management Board. Tarr also served on the board of CEB until the sale of the company to Gartner in 2017 and as co-Chair of the World Economic Forum Council on the Future of Space Technologies. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
